In Germany, the Studierendenwerk, an organisation providing support services to students, and the university are charged with the social assistance and support of the students. Students become eligible to these services by paying a social service contribution to Studierendenwerk at the beginning of each term. This includes access to cafeterias, student accommodation, various advice centres, childcare facilities, cultural events and the International Club Freiburg as the meeting point for all students from Germany and abroad.
